Chander Mohan's ex-wife Fiza found dead

Chandigarh: Anuradha Bali, estranged wife of former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan, was today found dead at her residence in Mohali near here.

The body of 39-year-old Bali, alias Fiza Mohammad, a former Assistant Advocate General of Haryana, was found lying on her bed in her residence with several insects roaming over it, SHO Kulbir Singh said.

A senior police officer said the body found in a ground floor bedroom was in a decomposed state and preliminary inquiry showed that she may have died four to five days back.

"At this stage nothing can be stated on whether it is a case of suicide," the officer said.

No suicide note has so far been recovered, the police said.

The police opened the house after neighbours reported foul smell coming from there.

Bali hogged limelight after her marriage with Chander Mohan a few years back when he was the Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana.

However, after his controversial marriage Chander Mohan was disowned by his father and former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal.

Having remained incommunicado for several days, the couple had resurfaced after embracing Islam and Bali changing her name to Fiza and Chander Mohan to Chand Mohammed.

Relations later soured between the two and Fiza joined politics by launching a political outfit.

Sources said that she was planning to join BSP.

Chander Mohan had recently buried his differences with his younger brother Kuldeep Bishnoi and joined the HJC headed by the latter.

In the 2009 Assembly elections in Haryana, Fiza had vigorously campaigned against the Bhajan Lal family which was contesting from Adampur in Hisar district. — PTI

मिशन मंगल कामयाब, नासा को मिलने लगीं तस्वीरें

वाशिंगटन। अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा का सबसे हाई टेक मार्स रोवर क्यूरियोसिटी कई महीनों के इंतजार और सालों की मेहनत के बाद आखिरकार मंगल की सतह पर सुरक्षित उतर गया है। भारतीय समयानुसार सोमवार करीब 11 बजे 'गेल क्रेटर' में इसकी सफल लैंडिंग हुई। लैंडिंग की घड़ी जैसे-जैसे करीब आ रही थी, वैज्ञानिकों की दिल धड़कनें तेज होती जा रहीं थीं। जैसे ही मार्स रोवर के लैंडिंग के सिग्नल मिले, कैलिफोर्निया के पसाडेना स्थित लैब में मौजूद नासा के वैज्ञानिक जश्न में डूब गए।
नासा के वैज्ञानिकों को इस स्पेसक्राफ्ट से तस्वीरें मिलने लगी हैं। मंगल पर उतरने के तुरंत बाद रोवर ने अपना 57 लाख किलोमीटर दूर से पहला फोटो जारी किया, जिसमें लाल ग्रह पर रोवर की परछाईं दिखाई दे रही थी।
अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने नासा के वैज्ञानिकों को बधाई देते हुए कहा कि अमेरिका ने मंगल पर इतिहास रच दिया है।
नासा ने इसके लाइव प्रसारण की व्यवस्था की है। इसे दुनिया का सबसे महंगा वैज्ञानिक मिशन माना जा रहा है। नासा के इस मिशन में भारतीय वैज्ञानिक भी शामिल हैं। मार्स साइंस लेबोरेटरी के शोध के आधार पर ही मंगल ग्रह पर मानव को भेजने की योजना साकार हो सकेगी।
छह पहियों वाले क्यूरियोसिटी का वजन 900 किलो है। ऊंचाई 3 मीटर, स्पीड औसतन 30 मीटर प्रति घटा। यह रोवर मंगल पर 2 साल काम करेगा। इस दौरान कम से कम 19 किलोमीटर की दूरी तय करेगा।
नासा ने इसकी लैंडिंग से पहले भी एक परीक्षण किया है। इसे सेवन मिनिट्स ऑफ टेरर का नाम दिया गया था। अमेरिका, सोवियत संघ, यूरोप व जापान ने 1960 के बाद से जितने भी मंगल अभियान किए उनमें से आधे से ज्यादा विफल हुए हैं। इस बार नासा एक नई लैंडिंग तकनीक का इस्तेमाल किया है। यही वजह है कि इसमें अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा बरती जा रही है। यदि यह अभियान विफल रहा तो नासा भारी संकट में पड़ जाएगा। इसकी वजह है कि नासा के खर्च में कटौती की गई है।
मंगल धरती का सबसे करीबी पड़ोसी ग्रह है। वैज्ञानिकों ने अब तक किए शोध में वहां पानी होने के संकेत पाए हैं। उनका मानना है कि वहां कभी जीवन रहा होगा। अब मंगल एक सूखा, जबरदस्त ठंड और धूल के तूफानों से भरा ग्रह है। अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा के मुताबिक क्यूरियोसिटी को मंगल से परीक्षण के लिए कुछ नमूने एकत्रित करने हैं। नासा के मुताबिक रोवर क्यूरिओसिटी के सारे सिस्टम ठीक काम कर रहे हैं। परमाणु ऊर्जा से संचालित क्यूरिओसिटी अंतरिक्ष कार्यक्रमों के लिए बनाया गया अब तक का सबसे बड़ा रोवर है। इसका वजन एक टन है। यह एक छोटी कार जितना बड़ा है। छह पहियों का यह रोवर छोटे पत्थरों को तोड़ने, मिट्टी और विकिरण की जांच करने के उपकरण साथ ले गया है।
नासा के मंगल अभियान के डायरेक्टर डूज मैक्किस्टन ने कहा कि इस मिशन में हमारी सबसे बड़ी चुनौती रोवर की लैंडिंग को लेकर बनी हुई थी। मार्स साइंस लेबोरेट्री ने मंगल यात्रा आठ महीने पहले नवंबर, 2011 में शुरू की थी। उन्होंने कहा कि अभी तक टीम अच्छा काम कर रही है, लेकिन इसके बाद भी मिशन को चुनौतियां और खतरा बना हुआ है। उन्होंने उम्मीद जताई है कि आगे भी सब ठीक रहेगा।

Dara Singh passes away after prolonged illness

Rustam-e-Hind Dara Singh, who never lost a fight in the ring, lost a protracted battle against death on Thursday morning. The veteran actor-wrestler breathed his last at 7.30 am at his Mumbai residence, in presence of his family and friends. He was 84.

The news of his death was announced by his son, actor Vindu Dara Singh; as per reports his last rites would be conducted at 2 pm today at Vile Parle.

Dara Singh had suffered cardiac arrest on July 7 and was rushed Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He underwent dialysis and was put on ventilator, however, his condition continued to deteriorate.

To respect his wish – he wanted to breathe his last at his home - the family shifted him back to their residence yesterday evening.

Dara Singh personal physician Dr Agarwal said, “Yesterday, we brought him from hospital to home…his wish was that he be at his home between his family. He passed away at 7.30 am due to cardio-respiratory arrest, he had suffered paralysis a few years back, and he also had a very rare brain disease.”

Importantly, Dr Agarwal said that the ventilator and other support systems were removed only after his death.

‘Mahabali’ Dara Singh was the undisputed champion of champions in the wrestling ring and has won many times including the world championship in 1968. He took to acting in 1962 and is best remembered for his portrayal of Hanuman in popular TV series ‘Ramayan’.

Dara Singh was also known for his generous kind nature. Affable to the extreme, he made friends easily and never misused his power even in his heydays.

India has a lost a jewel today.
